Julia Grieve founded Preloved in Toronto in 1995, developing the brand and a small retail shop on Queen St. W. With a shared passion for sustainable design, she creates one of a kind garments from reclaimed fabrics, which would otherwise end up in a landfill.
Vintage items such as upcycled sweaters, men’s button down shirts, golf shirts, trench coats and leather jackets are hand-picked and meticulously deconstructed before being used as Preloved’s raw materials. Scraps of forgotten workpants reappear as an elegant evening gown, and curtains are re-born as stunning summer skirts. Their clothes are always highly identifiable, while still one of a kind.
Though working with this unique process, attention to fit, comfort and style are evident in each of Preloved’s pieces.
