Happy First Day of Summer! Our little town is lovely all year round, but there is something special about summer in Lunenburg. So, we thought we'd share some of our favourite warm-weather things to see and do here.
Fish and Chips
A must have while you are on the south shore of NS in the summertime! My favourite comes from the Fish Shack, a lovely place to sit outside and feel the breeze while eating some of the yummiest food around!
There is nothing better than sitting outside taking in a music festival on a summer evening. We are so lucky to have the wonderful Folk Harbour Festival here in town, and the line up for this year is looking fantastic.
I love the beach, and I love to swim, but I also love to relax on the sand with a good book. There are so many great beaches around Lunenburg to visit, and why not grab the perfect beach read here in town at Lexicon Books.
I love a good antique shop for poking around in, and there is no shortage of them within walking distance from Luvly! Stell's Cottage recently opened just up the street, and has a beautifully curated selection of home goods, Mom's Buy and Sell is right across the street and features multiple sellers with a ever-changing selection of furniture, curiosities and clothing, and Lunenburg Community Consignment is right around the corner on Pelham Street and operates on a unique model as a volunteer-run shop, giving a portion of their proceeds to the charities of the volunteers choice.
The loop at Gaff Point is a standby favourite for all season, but is particularly spectacular on a sunny summer's day. The Indian Path Common Hiking Trails are a fantastic shorter loop with shorter options that are great for kids, and take you through a mix of forest and wetland.
Blue Rocks is the quintessential South Shore fishing village. Take a drive out there, enjoy the scenery, and stop by The Point General for an ice cream or homemade popsicle.
