ART: The Briggs Family Tea Service created by Trent Jansen is a representation of a family from Van Diemen's Land in colonial Tasmania. Each piece tells the story of a member of the Briggs family, a mother, father and their four children. Reading the back story is interesting as the design elements of each piece are explained in relation to each person.
DESIGN: Piet Hein Eek is a Dutch industrial designer specializing in patchwork wood furniture. He has also opened a warehouse space where design, fabrication and retail come under one roof and include a variety of designers and mediums. There is even a restaurant in the space.
