BAKE: I love Japanese food, and the strawberry (and chocolate!) dipped wafer sticks called Pocky are no exception. Wishing I had a girly occasion to bake for as I'm in awe of this oh-so-pretty Pink Vanilla Pocky Cake.
BLOG: Stacy of LEIF has an eye for the well designed, and her most recent blog posts feature a gorgeous palette of pinks, mints, yellows, oranges and blues in everything from original artwork + pottery to druzy minerals + citrus fruit. Her feature on the split leaf philodendron as a design element has inspired me to revisit my love for this giant leaved plant. For even more beautiful things, feast your eyes on the carefully curated offerings of her online store, LEIF Shop.
DESIGN: PEI darlings Louanna + Hilary Murphy have been garnering press attention for some time as Dreamboat Lucy, a line of finely constructed garments and accessories that have redefined how the biz thinks of the island province. Their latest feature interview as Today's Notable Young Entrepreneurs on Notable.ca is but a drop in the proverbial bucket. They recently opened a studio in the Confederation Court Mall in Charlottetown where you can see Louanna do her thang.
GROW: I'm slowly gathering the materials to complete this Mounted Staghorn Fern DIY. I've had it on my to-do list for ages, and the last step is to get my man to build me a wooden mount. I am particularly inspired by the placement of a mounted staghorn in floral designer Nicolette Camille's home.
STUDY: Speaking of Nicolette Camille, I'm completely in love with everything she does - she has a magic touch with flowers. I am a florist, and I've always wanted to take one of the classes she offers (along with flower whiz Sarah of Sapuia) through her travelling side project called Little Flower School. These ladies are seriously talented, my heart has stopped (more than once!) when perusing their portfolios - it's well worth a look.
ART: The Rijks Museum is now offering Hi-Res art downloads for free. Every image is copyright free, meaning you can download these images and make prints for yourself. Can you believe it? On their website you can create a Rijksstudio and start a collection of all your favourite images.
WEAR: Last week I finally purchased a Caitlyn Rose Jewellery piece - one of her Crystal Dangle Necklaces. Caitlyn also runs Salty Rose's Local Art & Craft, a quaint little shop in Ingonish. This is a must stop shop along the Cabot Trail, featuring all Canadian handmade art & craft.
MAKE: This paper bowtie tutorial by FiberLab makes my heart go pitter patter.
FASHION: I keep on finding myself returning to Sretsis' website to check out their Spring/Summer 13 collection. I especially have a soft spot for this dress.
EAT: The other night I went on a search for a mayoless potato salad and stumbled upon this recipe on Smitten Kitchen. Let me tell you, this is a summer must-eat for everyone. I'm a huge fan of good old fashion potato salad, but it can be so heavy. This salad is light and ever so fresh, mmmm.
